Thomas Teiken

Thomas H. Teiken, 74, Dilworth, MN, formerly of Ogema, MN, died Saturday, October 23 at his home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Thomas Henry Teiken was born September 7, 1947 in Detroit Lakes, MN to Vernon and Elizabeth (Schreiner) Teiken.  He is a 1965 graduate of Waubun High School.  Following graduation, he joined the U. S. Army and served in Viet Nam.  Following his discharge, he returned to Ogema where he farmed with his parents.  Tom was united in marriage to Janice Kozitka, June 27, 1970 in Ogema.  They farmed in rural Ogema and, for a short time, Tom worked doing building construction for Roger Winter.

Tom enjoyed time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, fishing, playing many intense games of cards, watching sports (especially events that his children or grandchildren were involved in), playing softball in his younger and older days, catching up on all the local news at the local café over many cups of coffee (and sometimes pie) and honoring our veterans by serving with the Ogema V. F. W. Honor Guard.  He served on the Waubun School Board for 25 years and was a member of the Ogema V. F. W.

Survivors include his wife, Janice of Dilworth, MN, sons, Jon of Ogema, Curtis (Tessilee) of W. Fargo, ND, a daughter, Teresa (Paul) Daniele of Waterbury, CT, grandchildren, Thomas, Victoria (Trevor), Chase (Kaela), MacKenzie, Devyn, Paul Jr., Charleigh and Holdyn. Great grandchildren, Delaney and Kai, Brothers: Carl (Merry) of Ogema, Alan (Theresa) of Waubun, Mark (Phyllis) of Mahnomen, Sisters: Mary (Jim) Mott of Moorhead, MN, Linda (Lloyd) Jirava of Ogema, Jeanne Beaupre of Fargo, ND, Margaret Lefebvre of Waubun, MN, Judy (Richie) Berger of Waubun, MN and Rita (Brad) Westlund of Lake Park, MN.  He was preceded in death by a son, Michael, his parents, a sister, Amy DeGroat and 4 brothers-in-law's Wally Lefebvre, Billy Beaupre, Jonny DeGroat, and Gerald Kozitka
