Leroy Bellcourt

Leroy Bellcourt, 79, of Ogema, MN passed away suddenly on Monday, October 12, 2020 at St Mary’s Essentia Health Hospital. A traditional visitation will be held on Thursday, October 15, 2020 starting at 5pm at the White Earth Community Center. Mass of Christian burial will be on Friday, October 16, 2020, at 11am, St. Benedict Catholic church in White Earth, MN.

Leroy James Bellcourt was born on November 18, 1940, in White Earth Township to Joseph and Grace (LAChapelle) Bellcourt. He was raised and attended school in White Earth, MN.  Growing up, Leroy met Doris Jackson and they became friends.  After school, he enlisted in the United States Army in 1961. After leaving the Army, Leroy moved to South Minneapolis finding and marrying his best friend and love of his life, Doris Jackson. In the early 1990’s, the family moved back to White Earth.

Leroy loved to listen to music, his coffee in the morning, jigsaw puzzles, playing cards, gardening-which he was excellent at but, his favorite thing to do was visit with his family and friends. Leroy’s family was always his first priority.

Deeply loved, Leroy’s passing is mourned by his children Brian, Shari, Valerie, Leroy Jr, Laura, LaNay, and Kari; twenty one grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren; siblings Ray, Richard, Donna, Sharon, and Ron; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Preceding Leroy in death were his wife Doris; parents Joseph and Grace; grandparents Joe and Myrtle Bellcourt, and Phillip and Myrtle LAChapelle; sons Vincent and Arnie; grandson Jeff; granddaughter Violet; and brother Wayne.
