Julie Kaye McDonald was born May 22, 1953 in Detroit Lakes, MN to Russell and Jeanette (Nelson) Biewer. She was raised in Lake Park and is a 1972 graduate of Lake Park High School. Julie was united in marriage August,1974 to Jeffrey Restad, they made their home in Audubon, MN, where they raised two awesome children. They later divorced. Julie was a hardworking girl, for many years she worked multiple jobs at once. In her earlier years she worked at First Security Bank in Detroit Lakes, MN. She then went on to work for the Municipal Liquor Store in Detroit lakes, MN for around 24 years where she retired in 2015. She also drove school bus for Olander Bus Company on and off for 20 years until 2019.

In March 2003 Julie was united in marriage to Ronald McDonald in South Dakota. They made their home in Detroit Lakes, MN. Where they raised their fur babies together. They enjoyed the outdoors. They loved to go four wheeling, going to the shooting range, and took numerous trips to Wyoming, Montana, and South Dakota. Julie enjoyed going on vacations with her friends as well. They went to Nashville, Mexico, and Austria just to name a few. Julie loved her country music and dancing as well. As many of you know she loved her Minnesota Vikings football. On Sundays Julie would have her family and friends over for supper, it became a family tradition every week. Julie took much pride in her grandchildren, Conner, Harlee and Maverick.

“Awesome” and “cool” were a few of the words she would always say. She will forever be known for her upbeat personality and her infectious smile. No matter what life threw at Julie you would never catch her without a smile on her face. When she was diagnosed with cancer her favorite saying was “it is what it is”.
