Jose (Martinez) Muzquiz Jr

Jose Luis Martinez Muzquiz, Jr. was born in Piedras Negra, Coahuila Mexico on August 6, 1957 to Ofelia Martinez Muzquiz and Jose Luis Muzquiz.

On October 4, 1978, the crazy mexican married this white lady in Watertown, South Dakota.  In marriage, he fathered 2 children, Josaleen Muzquiz Davis and Jose Luis Muzquiz, III. On July 1, 1990, he remarried the love of his life at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Detroit Lakes, MN.

Through his life, he worked many jobs as a welder and foreman.  After 5 years of working at Snappy's Manufacturing, at the age of 62, he retired.

Piece by piece, he built a beautiful home. He was not a builder/carpenter so sometimes it was challenging, but he did it and he was very proud of his work.

After retiring, he spent many months in Crystal City, Texas with his family. As scared as he was of flying, he got on a plane to be with his family that he loved so dearly.  He was an avid hunter and spent many hours in the deer hunting blind he built and called it "the chicken coop" in Texas. He missed a lot of big bucks and always had stories to tell. He was proud of the ones he got! There was never a dull moment with JoJo,

Although he resided in Minnesota for 44 years, half of his heart lived in Texas.  He had a great heart for his family and always loved a good dessert.

He achieved many ranks in Tae Kwon Do and Hapkido.  He was so proud he could make his Master Lucas tap out in MMA and had recently started Jiu Jitsu.  He was 2nd Degree Black Belt in Hapkido and 2nd Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do.  He was an Assistant Instructor in the MMA Program.  Everyday he was in the gym, he grew and fostered growth in those who trained with him.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Laura Muzquiz, daughter Josaleen (Joel) Davis and Jose Luis III (Katie) Muzquiz.  Grandchildren, Nathan Flaa, Ari, Dori, Finna Davis, Braelyn Muzquiz and Bryton Mehl.  Brothers and sisters:  Beatriz Muzquiz, Izamary (ALberto) Muzquiz Lopez, Juan (Rosa) Muzquiz, Javier (Elena) Muzquiz, Ernesto Muzquiz and Oscar Muzquiz and by many sobrinos (nephews) and sobrinas (nieces).

When the gates of heaven opened, he was greeted by his mother Ofelia Muzquiz, his father, Jose Luis Muzquiz and his mother-in-law Doris Eidenschink and father-in-law Frank Eidenschink and numerous Tios and Tias.

Celebration of life will be held on Friday, May 20, 2022 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, viewing is at 11:00 a.m. followed by the funeral at 12:00 p.m.
