Jon "Rock" Stone

Jon R. “Rock” Stone, age 73 of Lake Park, MN, passed away on April 12, 2021 at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND. Jon was born on September 17, 1947 in Bethesda Naval Hospital. He grew up in Rapid City, SD, where he graduated in 1965 and then joined the U.S. Navy and served on the Destroyer U.S.S. Higbee during the Vietnam War. After transferring to the Naval Reserves, he lived in Minneapolis, MN. There he met the love of his life, Joyce, and married her January 11, 1972.  Jon and Joyce had three wonderful sons and moved around Minnesota, to California & South Dakota then came back “home” to Minnesota and settled in the Audubon and Lake Park area where they loved hosting and spending quality time with family & friends. Jon worked for the Ricke Family/Team Industries and retired after 40+ years. Jon was a volunteer fire fighter in Audubon, MN for 8 years, was a past Adjutant of the Audubon American Legion and presently a member of the Lake Park American Legion. Jon loved fishing, hunting, SCCA & NASCAR, wood working, hanging out with his best friend, Joyce and visiting casinos. He took much pleasure in trying to keep Linda & Joyce out of mischief on their many outings even though he was the instigator A LOT of the time! Jon and Joyce added onto their little log cabin in 2002, then inviting his mother-in-law to make it her home also, until she passed in 2006.

Jon is survived by his wife Joyce Stone, two sons Jon (Joy) Stone of Detroit Lakes, Tom (Kala) Stone of Warroad, his sisters Sandra (Daniel) Stephens of Oklahoma and Jacque (Bill) Lukkes of South Dakota, as well as 8 much loved grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law and many friends. He is preceded in death by his son Ron Stone, his parents John T. and Dorothy Stone of Rapid City, SD, his favorite “Aunt Hedy” Joachim of S.D., his in-laws Orren & Carol Moline of Minnesota and his favorite sister-in-law Jan Ball of California and 2 nephews.

Honorary Pallbearers: Dave Ricke, Dan Riely, Keith Dibley Norman Palinkas, Max Fortier and Michael Ebersole.

Service at 2 p.m. with a Celebration of Life to follow on Saturday, May 15 at the home of Rock & Joyce.
