Jeanette L. Nelson Biewer, 90, of Lake Park, MN passed away on July 4th, 2021 at Sunnyside Care Center with her family at her bedside. Jeanette Nelson was born on Oct. 28th, 1930 the fourth out of eleven that were born to Tilla (Teigen) and Maynard Nelson in Parke Township near Turtle Lake.
Jeanette learned work ethic at a young age growing up on the farm. Her time was spent milking cows, picking potatoes and splitting wood. She attended District 10 and later graduated from Lake Park High School in 1949.
Jeanette met Russell Biewer when she was a sophomore in high school. He never actually asked her out on a date, he just kept showing up on Saturday nights for dancing at The Hill Top. They were united into marriage on August 27, 1949. Together they raised four children and made their home in Lake Park.
Jeanette fried lefse at The Art Carlson lefse shop in Lake Park. She later helped open the Lake Park Liquor Store. She then managed The Legion in Detroit Lakes, MN where she retired for the first time after 20 years. She soon after began working at Sunnyside Care Center until the age of 80, to care for her husband.
Jeanette was known for her lefse, doughnuts and potato dumplings. She was proud of her Norwegian heritage. She always put others before herself and was a caregiver her entire life. She loved casino runs and traveling to Las Vegas and Laughlin, Nevada. She was a member of Lake Park Lutheran and The Lake Park Legion.
Preceding her in death are her husband, parents, sisters: Marj Johnson, Maxine Grani, Rudella Wermagar, brother Lyle Nelson, and son-in-law Joe Bosch.
Jeanette is survived by her children; Jackie Biewer, Julie (Ron) Restad McDonald, Jim (Sue) Biewer, and Joni Biewer. Grandchildren; Jill Erickson, Jed (Leah) Restad, Serena (Dan) Gigstead, Summer (Eric) Aakre, Kelsey (Jordan) Biewer, and Zander Bosch, 12 great grandchildren, siblings; Jesse Ullrich, Denise Erickson, Clayton Nelson, Connie (Max) Baer, Karen (Curt) Hanson, and John (Patty) Nelson, and several nieces and nephews.
