Elaine Helen Teiken was born at home in Ogema, MN on February 28, 1935 to Henry and Anna (Jasken) Teiken. She graduated from Waubun High School with the class of 1952.

On May 5, 1954, Elaine “Pon” was united in marriage to James “Sonny” Hoban. The couple bought the James Hoban Sr. farm. Together the couple farmed and raised seven children. They lived on the farm until their passing.  For extra money, Elaine planted trees, and picked potatoes during the summer. Later in life, she worked at the Shooting Star Casino as a cashier in the buffet.

Elaine liked to grow vegetables in her garden and loved the flowers around her house. She also enjoyed braiding rugs and quilt making in her spare time. Elaine’s greatest joy was her family gatherings. She loved to see all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed going to the casino with her special friend, Albert Schouviller.

Elaine was a member of the Neighborhood Homemakers for numerous years, a longtime member of Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, and a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary of Ogema.

Elaine is survived by her children Jeff (LaVerne), Mark (Barb), Barb Accobee, Jamie (Lee) Weigel, Kristi (Joe) Bellefeuille; sister Marge McArthur; sister in-laws Trula Teiken, and Maryann Teiken; brother in-laws Louis Trujillo and Boy Boy McArthur; 17 grandchildren, and 38 great-grandchildren.
