Dean Van Wert

December 11, 1959 — June 9, 2022

Dean Paul Van Wert was a great man, a beloved son, a caring brother, a loving father, an amazing grandfather, and a cool uncle. Dean is loved by many and will be missed dearly. He loved spending time with his daughters, his family, visiting company, painting, singing, listening to music, dancing at powwow, watching movies, sitting outside, spending time with his dog Taylor, telling stories, enjoying a good smoke session, gardening, going out to eat, and going to the Shooting Star casino. Dean was born on December 11, 1959, in St Paul, MN where he grew up with his parents and siblings. He had also lived with his parents and siblings in White Earth, MN for some time. In Dean’s early adulthood, he had lived in WI where he had given life to his first-born Jesse Van Wert. Later in his adult life he had moved back to White Earth, MN and had married his ex-wife Crystal and raised his stepdaughter, Tianna Jackson along with his two daughters, Genesis Van Wert, and Pauline Van Wert. Dean was once an Art Teacher at the Circle of Life Academy with many other jobs. His last job was working as a hotel porter for the Shooting Star Casino. Dean had spent his life loving and caring for his family.  He will truly be missed by many, from family and friends alike.

Dean may no longer be with us physically but he is still here with us in spirit, heart and memory.  In his last moments, Dean left the physical world at home, in peace, with his two daughters by his side. This was the way he had wished to go. Dean had joined his deceased family members: father, Fenton Van Wert Sr.; mother, Pauline Van Wert; brother, Leonard Ambriz, in the spirit world. Dean is survived by his 5 siblings Linda Anderson, Fenton Van Wert Jr., James Van Wert, Monica Van Wert, and Jason Van Wert, His 3 children Jesse Van Wert, Genesis Van Wert, and Pauline Van Wert, and his only grandchild Chakotay Johnson Jr.
