Cheryl Casebeer

Cheryl J. Casebeer, 75, of Detroit Lakes, MN, passed away on Friday, September 27, 2019, at Bethany on the Lake in Alexandria, MN.

Cheryl Jean Casebeer was born on May 2, 1944, to Harold and Mabel (Cogger) Casebeer in Detroit Lakes, MN.  Cheryl and her six siblings grew up on the family farm north east of White Earth, by Casebeer Lake.

She attended school in Waubun and received her GED with the help of Rural Minne-CEP where she worked. Cheryl furthered her education at the Detroit Lakes Vocational-Tech School and graduated with a clerical degree.  In 1971, she took a job at the Food Nutrition Department of Fergus Falls, MN, she then started working at the Detroit Lakes MINNE-CEP.  In 1972, she started working for Becker County Financial Services in Detroit Lakes, MN as a clerk/ typist.  She  continued to work for Becker County and became a receptionist and eventually a financial worker. Cheryl worked for Becker County for over 35 years, retiring in 2007.

Cheryl was an enrolled member of the White Earth Ojibwe Tribe and a member if the Detroit Lakes Eagles Club. She enjoyed making blankets, and crafts like her mother, casino time with her sisters, and loved spending time with her son, grandkids and great grandchildren, and dog sitting for her sons dog Cuda.  Family was sacred and meant everything to her.

Cheryl is survived by her son Lonny(Maria) Casebeer; grandchildren Crystal (Matthew) Knihinicki, Wayne (Jess Janson) Casebeer; great grandchildren Mila and Abel Knihinicki, and Kahlan Casebeer; sisters Lorraine Oschner, Carol Thieme, and Betty Schoenhardt; numerous nieces, nephews, and God daughter Tina Benson.

Preceding Cheryl in death were her parents Harold and Mabel; sisters Ilene Schoenhardt and Ruth(Henry) Loock; her only brother Harold W. Casebeer; and one grandson.
