Barbara Grindall

Barbara Ann Grindall of Frazee passed away on July 21, 2021 at Essentia Health, with her family by her side.  Barb was born January 1, 1939 in Romulus, Michigan to August and Rosanne DuBois (Chouinard).  Barb was the youngest of 7 children and when her parents passed away at a young age, Barb moved to Bemidji with her brother.  Barb met the love of her life, Ken Grindall while living in Bemidji.  They were married on November 9, 1957 and to this union 3 children: Kenny, Gary and Debbie were born.

The family moved to Audubon with Ken’s new job teaching at the vocational school in Detroit Lakes.  Barb worked at the nutrition center for 25 years.  In 1972, Ken and Barb started Operation Christmas and continued that for 15 years, and Barb always wore her beautiful Christmas skirt.  In 1980, Ken and Barb opened the Audubon roller rink which formed lots of wonderful memories.  Barb and Debbie started cleaning houses in 2004. Due to health reasons, Barb decided to leave the cleaning business to Debbie.

Ken and Barb had 64 wonderful years together which is a love story of one in a million.  Barb loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.  It is without doubt that they loved spending time with her as well.  They say, “The true beauty of a woman is reflected in her soul”, and Barb was a beautiful woman inside and out.  Her smile and outgoing personality could light up a room.  Barb was well known for her pancakes, rhubarb sauce, and potato salad.  Barb will always be loved, never forgotten, and always missed.

Barb is survived by her husband, Ken Grindall; children Kenny (Yvonne) Grindall, Gary (Tanya) Grindall, and Debra (Ronald) Lanoue; grandchildren Jennifer (Justin) Stearns, Shaun (Meg) Grindall, Aunna (Andy) Braton, Cody (Katie) Grindall, Brandon (Carrie) Grindall, Kelsey (Brett) Brehm, and Austin (Taylor) Lanoue, Allison (Sam) Suedel, Hunter (Mariah) Suedel, Blaine Suedel, and Payton Suedel; and 18 great grandchildren.

Barb is proceeded in death by her parents, August and Rosanne Dubois; brothers Chuck, Auggie, and Reinie; sisters Rose and Rita; and mother in-law Yoma Grindall.
