Vivian Mildred Hunt

Vivian Mildred Hunt, 92, of Detroit Lakes, passed away on Monday, December 11, 2023, at Sunnyside Care Center.

Vivian was born in Sioux Falls, SD, to Herbert and Helen (Aulwes) Langdon and spent most of her childhood and youth on a farm one quarter of a mile north of Burr, MN. She attended and graduated from 8^th grade from a one room schoolhouse half a mile south of Burr. She then completed her high school education and graduated from Canby High School in 1949. After graduation, she became employed at the Lyon County Court House in Marshall, MN, as a secretary/bookkeeper at the Lyon County Auditors Office. During this time, she was being courted by Lowell Hunt, and on Christmas Eve, of 1949, they were engaged. On April 2, 1950, they were united in marriage in the Lutheran Church in Gary, SD. To this union, seven children were born: Dianne, Dawn, David, Debra, Douglas, Desli, and Daniel.

Vivian is survived by her husband of 73 years, Lowell; her children: Dianne (Vern) Bruxvoort, David (Kathy) Hunt, Debi Christensen, Douglas (Sharon) Hunt, Desli (Peter) Snortum, and Daniel Hunt; 14 grandchildren; and 28 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Helen; sister, Betty Lee; brother, Herbert Langdon; daughter and son-in-law, Dawn and Tom LeBlanc; and granddaughter, Joy Dawn LeBlanc.

Vivian’s life journey will always be remembered as a beautiful and loving wife of Lowell, a wonderful mother to her children, a special grandmother to her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and a special lady to hundreds of friends.

73 years, 7 months, 9 days, and 6 hours of wedded bliss – Vivian has served the Lord for 81 years, in those 81 years, she has brought many people to the care of Jesus.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at True Life Assembly of God with Pastors Trevor Janich, Tim Rice, and Matt Bernier officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in Canby Cemetery in Canby, MN.
