Timothy Olsen

Oct 7, 1958 — May 14, 2026

Timothy Paul Olsen, age 67, of Lake Park, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on May 14, 2026. Over the last two years, Tim fought hard to recover from a major stroke he suffered in June 2024. Shortly before Easter this past year, another stroke took away much of what he had worked so hard to regain.

Tim grew up in Lake Park and built his final home on Lake LaBelle with his wife, LouAnn and children, Tabitha and Tyler. He carried an entrepreneurial spirit throughout his life and was always creating, building, repairing, or finding a new opportunity to pursue.

Over the years, Tim started and operated several businesses. Through Olsen Fisheries, he worked tirelessly raising walleye fingerlings. Through TJ Builders, he repaired and built grain elevators throughout the area. Marina Builders took him across the United States installing and repairing commercial, municipal, and private marinas. His skills eventually brought him to Jamaica, where he managed repair work at an industrial crushing plant and shared many stories of coaching workers, solving problems and enjoying the friendships made there.

Tim truly was a jack of all trades and master of many. He was known for his welding, installation, repair work and ability to fix nearly anything placed in front of him. He was also a perfectionist when it came to cleaning and organizing. Family members often joked that their shoes, keys, or wallet could disappear at any moment if Tim decided they belonged somewhere “better.” He loved his leaf blower almost as much as he loved maintaining his signatured long-haired look.

Outside of work, Tim enjoyed watching NASCAR, Spanish soap operas, and especially The Weather Channel. He faithfully kept his own personal weather records, and his family often told him that he should have been a meteorologist. He also had a legendary sweet tooth and somehow always managed to sniff out hidden chocolate no matter where it was tucked away.

Above all, Tim will be remembered for his strong work ethic, sharp mind, adventurous spirit, sense of humor, and deep love for his family. Though stroke changed much of his later years, it never erased the determination and strength that defined him throughout his life.

Timothy is survived by his wife, LouAnn Olsen; daughter, Tabitha Olsen-Bergman; son, Tyler Olsen; and grandchildren, Kendra, Logan, and Mati Bergman. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Beth Okeson (Donald) and Marvel Mickelson (Jon); and his brother, Mark Olsen (Penny).

He was preceded in death by his mother, Edlin Olsen, and father, Tory Olsen.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

We would like Timothy to be remembered as a genuinely wise man who dared to dream big and worked tirelessly throughout his life to build, create and provide for those he loved. During his journey, our family would especially like to thank Sandy and Jim Mann, Lisa and Doug Anderson, Becky Erickson, Craig and Marie Nelson, Tim Omberg, Connie Bergman, Tammy Grondahl, and Marvel and Jon Mickelson for their kindness, prayers, support, and friendship over the past two years. Their compassion meant more to our family than words can express.

And with sincere gratitude, we extend a special thank you to Dr. Gaurav Mehta and HIA Hospice for the compassionate care, generosity, and support they provided to Tim and our family.

A celebration of life for Timothy will be held on Thursday, May 21, at Lake Park Lutheran Church beginning at 4:30 p.m.
