Sylvia Vogt

June 29, 1947 — June 24, 2025

Sylvia Mackenzie Vogt, 77, was lovingly welcomed into the arms of the Lord on June 24th, 2025.

The world first embraced her on June 29, 1947, in Glasgow, Scotland. She was the beloved child of Aleseander and Ana Mackenzie. Sylvia spent most of her childhood in Gibraltar with her grandparents before coming to the United States, where she married the love of her life, George Vogt. Together, they raised six children, creating a strong and loving family bond that will last through generations.

Sylvia may have stood just under five feet tall, but she was a giant in spirit, full of spark, grit, and a deep love for the great outdoors. Whether she was deer hunting at sunrise, swimming and laughing with her grandkids, or birdwatching with a quiet grin, she was most at peace outside. Weekends at her house were full of joy; grill outs that turned into poker nights with all of her children and a crowd of grandkids hoping to sneak a quarter or get in on a hand being played. These busy nights were followed by long morning walks in the woods, with sleepy grandkids in tow and Sylvia still setting the pace with her faithful four-legged companion, Ike, guarding the path.

Those who knew Sylvia will remember her for a heart as fierce as it was tender. She was our quiet guardian and fearless leader—always watching, always shielding, and always loving the beautiful, rowdy family she and George built together. Sylvia was the spark that lit our campfires and the anchor that kept us close.

Sylvia's legacy will live on in the hearts of all of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

A devoted wife, sister, friend, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Sylvia leaves behind her husband of 54 years, George Vogt; her children Lee Vogt, Yvette (Scott) Andersen, James (Robin) Vogt and Cory (Rochael) Vogt; 11 Grandchildren and 16 Great-Grandchildren; Sister Rosanna (Norman) Santos and Brother Alec (Jean) Mackenzie.

She was preceded in death by her sons, Tony and Timothy Vogt; her Parents, Aleseander and Ana Mackenzie; her sister, Marie Vaughn, and brother, Ian Mackenzie.
