Sharon A. Travis, age 79, of Detroit Lakes, passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2026. She was born August 11, 1946, in Fargo, ND to the late Ewald and Darlynne (Ferris) Poehls.
Sharon grew up in Sabin, MN, then moved to Perham, and eventually Frazee. She married Bill Collins where she lived in Montana. She then moved back to Frazee and married Walt Holmer and lived in Frazee until she married Terry Travis. After marrying Terry, the couple moved to California for several years, before moving back to Minnesota and living in St. Paul. They eventually moved to Vergas before ending up in Detroit Lakes.
Sharon liked to keep busy and worked in several places in and around Detroit Lakes, including Main Street Restaurant, Frazee Care Center, Norby’s, Salvation Army, and Ben Franklins. Around this time, Terry started Travis Tub Savers. After helping Terry, she also worked at Central Market and Helping Hands.
In her free time, Sharon enjoyed sewing, crafts, fishing, taking care of her plants and flowers, and coloring. But more than anything, she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Sharon is survived by her children, Douglas Collins, Lori (Carl) Riggs, Kevin (Jen) Holmer, Mark (Leslie) Holmer and Karen Hanson; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and siblings, Roger (Cheryl) Poehls and Charlene (Greg) Peterson.
In addition to her parents and stepfather, Sharon is preceded in death by her sister, Lynn Allen, and husband, Terry Travis.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to help cover expenses.
A celebration of Sharon’s life will be held in the spring of 2026.
