Ronald Allen Marvel

February 17, 1974 — January 31, 2026

Detroit Lakes

Ronald Allen Marvel, age 51, of Detroit Lakes, MN, passed away peacefully while at home on Saturday, January 31, 2026, Ron joined God in heaven after so many years of suffering with health issues.

He was born on February 17, 1974, in Becker County. He came to the Marvel family at 2 1/2 years old as a foster child, after spending six months in the University of Minnesota Hospital. He went there after swallowing Drano and ended up with a feeding tube and trachea when he came to our house. Dale and Carmen Marvel adopted him three years later with the approval of their children, Anthony, Sheila and Teresa.

He was beautiful child when he joined our family. Ron attended school in Audubon, both elementary and high school. It was very difficult for him, but he embraced it and wanted to be president of the United States when he was a kid. He loved reading, computers, with a strong interest in history. He read the Bible many times and learned to study it’s history.

Later in life he met the mother of his three beautiful daughters, Kimberleigh Catherine, Emmaleigh Ann, and Autumn Carmen. They ended up living in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. Ron was extremely active in his church where his faith grew. He sustained a serious head injury and couldn’t continue working with the pastor. Ron also survived a huge house fire which left him extremely burned. He was at the Burn center in Minneapolis for months where he underwent treatment and many skin grafts. When he returned to Detroit Lakes, he constantly suffered from effects of the fire. He had so many hospitalizations with his throat which added to the problem from his childhood. They never could totally improve his health. Ron was in and out of group homes because of his various issues and ended up in severe pain with a feeding tube because he couldn’t eat or swallow.

The family cannot thank Tom Reiffenberger enough for his guardianship and friendship over the past 30 + years. Tom and Ron went on many fun trips together as well. Including them joining our family wedding in Virginia last May.

With all the tragedies in his life, you will never meet a more loving, forgiving, generous person, with such big faith. His faith and family were what guided him until the end. Nothing was more important to him than his three daughters, and he shared his love of Michael Jordan with tennis shoes as presents to them over the years. With his interest in technology, they played many games on his computer whenever they got together. Ron was so proud of his daughters and was able to see them grow up to lovely young adults.

Ron is survived by his 3 daughters, Kimberleigh, Emmaleigh, and Autumn, all of Fergus Falls, Mn; Mother Carmen Walter of Audubon, Mn; siblings Anthony Marvel, Savage, MN; Sheila (Jerrod) Wamre, Hawley, Mn; Teresa (Kory) Mosher, Prior Lake, MN; 7 nieces and nephews; and his best 4-legged friend, Lassie.

Ron was proceeded in death by his father, Dale Marvel; Grandparents Dwight & Victoria Marvel; Dominick & Sheila Capilongo; and cousin, Eddie Chamblin.

A celebration of life will be planned for later this spring.
