Robert Wysuph

Robert Wysuph, 81, Detroit Lakes, formerly of White Earth Lake near Waubun, MN, died Wednesday, November 19 at Innovis Health in Fargo, ND. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, November 22 at David-Donehower Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes. Interment will be 12:30 PM Monday, November 24 at the State Veterans Cemetery at Little Falls, MN. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Saturday.


Robert Dean Wysuph was born May 26, 1929 in Tyndall, South Dakota to William and Emma (Bitterman) Wysuph. He was raised and educated in Tyndall. He served with the U. S. Army 1951 – 1954. Following his discharge, Robert worked at Gasvins Point Dam until moving to Nebraska in 1956 where he worked as a carpenter at an air force base. In 1957, Robert moved to Greenland where he worked as a carpenter at Thule Air Force Base. He moved to Omaha, NE in 1960. Robert was united in marriage to Doris Kragh, July 9, 1960 in Detroit Lakes, MN. They lived in Omaha, NE where they operated a small lumber yard specializing in the sale and installation of cedar siding. Robert and Doris moved to White Earth Lake in rural Waubun, MN in 1968 where they purchased a resort that they named Cedar Crest Resort using cedar lumber to build their home and add on to the lodge. Over the next four years, they built eight cabins, a large house, a six-unit motel and a trailer court. Following the sale of the resort in 1973, they purchased land on White Earth Lake which they developed as Dora Lee Estates. Doris died in 2005.


Survivors include a son, Dean and his wife Carrie of White Earth Lake; daughter, Laura and her husband Doug Jagol of Fertile, MN; five grandchildren, Kari Jagol, Cassie Haus, Robby Wysuph, Corina Schell and Christine Wysuph; great granddaughter, Keara Schell; brother, Larry and his wife Carol of Omaha, NE; and sister, Nadine Frye of Council Bluffs, IA. In addition to his wife, Doris, Robert was preceded in death by a brother, Donald and a sister, Virginia.
