Ricky Dee Thomas Sr

Rick Dee Thomas, 58, of Detroit Lakes, MN, passed away on March 29, 2026.
Born on October 9, 1968, Rick was known for his loving nature and willingness to help those he cherished.

Rick is survived by his wife, Nancy Thomas; sons, Troy (Buffy) Sperry, Steven (Ali) Barnes, Ricky Thomas Jr., Richard Sawyer, and Scott Sawyer; his sister, Sherry (Ron) Wright; brothers, Troy Thomas and Christopher (Samantha) Yellow Boy; sister, Karla (Joey) Margheim; and his cherished nine grandchildren, Caidance, Carter, Elizabeth, Carson, Levi, Sophia, and Brooklyn; along with two unnamed grandchildren.
Rick also leaves behind four nieces and six nephews: Timmy Boit, Micheal Sperry, Jr Sperry, David Schreiber, Micheal Danson, Mariah Margheim, Paige Margheim, Chase Margheim, Alexandria Yellow Boy, and Scarlett Yellow Boy.
Eight Great Nieces and Nephews Chloe, Connor, Ella, Maverick, Haley, Alyssa, Ty, and Skyler.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Thomas and Linda Yellow Boy; his greatgrandparents, grandparents, an uncle and three aunts.

Rick's hobbies included fishing, visiting race car tracks, frequenting casinos, boating, and spending time on the lake. He was also a devoted Denver Broncos fan and cherished moments spent with his grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held on May 30, 2026, at Detroit Lakes Park at 3:00pm, where friends and family will gather to honor his memory and legacy. A potluck will take place and guests are welcome to bring a dish to share.
