It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of Raymond John Stoll May 15, 2025.
Ray was born November 28, 1940 near Frazee, Minnesota, to Joseph and Anna (Yoder) Stoll, and was the fourteenth of eighteen children, though sadly, one sibling did not survive birth.
In 1969, Ray enlisted in the U.S. Army from Chicago, beginning a 23-year military career that took him around the world. He served multiple tours in Vietnam, and his dedication and bravery earned him many distinguished awards, including two Purple Hearts, which he was particularly proud of. Ray retired from the Army in 1983 while stationed in Anchorage, Alaska.
After his military career, Ray returned to Minnesota, where he spent his retirement years pursuing various jobs, hobby farming, and most of all, cherishing time with his grandchildren, Tyler, Carter and Cassidy Shipman. His pride in his family was immeasurable, and his love for them was evident in everything he did.
Ray will be remembered for his love of hunting, fishing and story telling. His legacy of service, pride in his family and unique spirit will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Ray is survived by his devoted daughter, Daneele (Jay) Shipman, and his beloved grandchildren, Carter (fiancé Casandra) Shipman and Cassidy Shipman.
Preceding Ray in death are his grandson Tyler Shipman, his parents Joe & Anna Stoll; siblings - Fern (Henry) Buller, Paul (Mary), Ruth (Orie) Schrock, Ella (Vernon) Boss, Ivan (Dorris), Doris (Melvin) Ebay, Carl (Margaret), Lorna (Floyd) Major, Joe (Rhoda), Don (Mary), Ron (Dee), Roger (Margaret), and Lloyd (Arlene), nieces and nephews as well.
