Mary Ann Kerchoff, 85, Audubon, MN died Saturday, December 6, at Sunnyside Care Center in Lake Park, MN.
Mary Ann Kerchoff was born April 23, 1940, near Hinckley, Minnesota to Raymond and Myrtle (Huntley) Irons. She grew up on a farm near Hinckley, MN. She went to a one-room schoolhouse during her elementary year. She Lettered in music and also performed in plays her junior and senior years at Hinckley High School, where she graduated. She went to University of Minnesota in Minneapolis and graduated with an associate’s degree in dental hygiene. While she went to U of M, she worked in the kitchen and delivered meals to the patients at the Swedish Hospital downtown Minneapolis. Mary was united in marriage to Ralph Kerchoff on June 17, 1961, in Minneapolis, MN and they made their home in Fargo. She worked as a Dental Hygienist at an orthodontic office in Fargo for over 40 years. For many years she enjoyed painting ceramics and competed in ceramic shows. She received Best in Show awards. She enjoyed learning and doing many types of art and crafts such as rosemaling, embroidery, and macramé. She enjoyed taking horse-back riding lessons, playing the organ, and gardening. Mary and Ralph enjoyed their retirement in the Cormorant Lakes area. She enjoyed snowmobiling, fishing, and boating. Her long-time hobby was quilting at home and at classes with friends.
Mary Ann is survived by one daughter: Nancy (Jeff) Gordon of Lakeville, MN, one son: Mark (Wendy) Kerchoff of Foxboro, MA along with four grandchildren: Luke Gordon, Andrea Gordon, Bryden Kerchoff and Victoria Kerchoff. In addition, she is survived by her two brothers: Willis (Betty) Irons of Green Valley, Arizona and Ken (Diana) Irons of Lutsen, Minnesota along with several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband: Ralph, her parents, and sister: Ruth
Memorial Services for Mary will be held Saturday, March 7th at 2:00pm at David-Donehower Funeral Home of Detroit Lakes, MN.
A visitation will be held one hour prior to services.
