Marjorie Louise Dahring

Marjorie Louise (Larson) Dahring, age 91, of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, passed away on Sunday, April 23, 2023, at Essentia Health-Oak Crossing Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes, under the care of the Hospice of the Red River Valley.  A funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Monday, May 1, 2023, at Zion Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes, with a time of gathering an hour prior.  A visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Sunday, April 30, 2023, at the David-Donehower Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes, with a prayer service at 6:30 PM.

Marjorie was born on October 31, 1931, to George and Agnes (Bartelson) Larson, at the family farm in Lake Park, Minnesota.  She grew up there, where she attended country school.  She went on to graduate from the Lake Park High School Class of 1949.  After high school, she went to work for the First National Bank, where she worked for many years.  Marjorie was united in marriage to Merton Dahring on February 26, 1956, at Zion Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes. The couple raised their three children near Vergas, Minnesota. She moved to Detroit Lakes in 1980 and remained until her passing.

Marjorie enjoyed word searches, puzzles, reading, and being outdoors.  She also loved traveling to spend time with family and friends.  She was also active with the Rebecca Guild at Zion Lutheran Church.   Marjorie will be remembered for her kind, helpful, generous, and independent nature.

She is survived by her three children: Vicki (Curt) Kolpack of Bowler, WI; Pam (Mark) Tessmer of West St. Paul, MN; and Jim (Misty) Dahring of Machesney Park, IL; a brother, Roger (Roberta) Larson of Mission, TX; and a sister, Phyllis Nelson of Detroit Lakes, MN; and her grandchildren; Matt, Ryan, Brad, Kevin and Brianna.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Merton; her parents, George and Agnes; a brother, David (Mary Ann) Larson, and two grandchildren, Kyle and Tyler Dahring.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to the Hospice of the Red River Valley.
