Margaret McDougall

Margaret Ann McDougall went to her eternal resting place on July 26, 2026.

Margaret was born January 26, 1950 to Victor Meyer and Alvina Caspers in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota.

She graduated from DLHS in 1968 and continued her education by earning her LPN license, therefore fulfilling her “calling” of becoming a nurse. During this time, she married Gary Lee McDougall on August 23, 1969. They were blessed with two children, Shawn and Stephanie.

Margaret cherished family time at the cabin and Strawberry Lake. She was devoted to her family and became involved with their activities. Her own interests and hobbies were reading, ceramics, cross county skiing, displaying her collection of snowmen, making pickles, and baking delicious treats for family and friends.

Margaret retired from St. Mary’s Hospital/Essentia Health in 2016 after 47 years of dedicated service.

She enjoyed retirement by traveling, spending time with her grandchildren and watching their various sports, sharing her homemade caramel rolls, and making personalized greeting cards.

Margaret is survived by her husband Gary; children: Shawn (Joanne Krasnoff) McDougall of Boca Raton, FL, Stephanie (Brent) Bultema of Nolensville, TN; grandchildren; Maxwell and Lucille McDougall, Addison and Wyatt Bultema; brothers; Jerome Meyer, Dennis (“Oscar) Meyer; sisters; Beverly (Mike) Juen, Mary Lou Jasch; as well as many other nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by parents Victor and Alvina Meyer.

Visitation and funeral service will be held August 3rd, 2026 at St. Mary of the Lakes Church, 20996 Co. Rd 20, Detroit Lakes, MN. Inurnment will be held at Lakeview Cemetery following funeral service luncheon.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes memorial donations to American Cancer Society or St. Mary of the Lakes Church in Detroit Lakes, MN.
