Margaret (Marge) Marie (Nordrum) Hellie passed away on October 30, 2025 at Perham Living.

She was born at home in LaCrosse, WI August 17, 1934 to Earl and Grace (Gibbs) Nordrum. The family moved to Waupun, WI shortly after that and this is where she grew up. She graduated from Waupun High School in 1952 and entered into nurses training at St Francis School of Nursing in September of that year. She graduated in 1955 and started working in the hospital in Waupun. In her younger years, Marge sang in a dance band and played softball. She enjoyed bowling in a league, once bowling a 290. She was a voracious reader, card and game player. Her children have lots of good memories of playing with her.

While in Waupun she met (Orland) Keith Hellie in October 1956 and they married May 18th, 1957. Their marriage lasted 61 years until Keith’s passing in August 2018. To this union three children were born. David, Kristen and Jean. They had 2 grandsons, 2 granddaughters and 6 great granddaughters. There were also a number of nieces and nephews.

Throughout their lives together Marge and Keith moved various places throughout the Midwest running various businesses while also traveling all over the U.S. and Mexico. They finally settled in Detroit Lakes, MN. She worked 14 years as a nurse at Sunnyside Nursing Home. In retirement they enjoyed their family and being snow birds going down to Texas for 17 winters.

She was proceeded in death by her husband, parents, sister Jean Schep, brother Glen Nordrum, half brother Lynn Kruger and great grandson Griffon Collette.

Margaret will be laid to rest in a private funeral at St Peter’s Cemetery.
