Linda Tholkes

Linda Lee Lage Engen Tholkes went to heaven on May 4th, 2025. HALLELUJAH!!!

Linda was born in Alexandria, Minnesota to Willliam & Betty Lage on April 4th, 1947, the eldest of four daughters. She went to school in Alexandria until the family moved to Detroit Lakes in 1962.

It was while attending school in Detroit Lakes that Linda met her first husband Glenn Engen. Linda and Glenn were married in December of 1965. They had three sons. Jeff, Chad, and Ryan. They remained happily wed until Glenn passed away unexpectedly on December 10th, 1982.

Linda loved people so it is no surprise that during her working career she would choose occupations that allowed her to interact with others. She spent most of her working career with K-mart but also worked as a bank teller and for Hobby Lobby.

Linda loved her daily texts with her son Ryan, family outings with her sisters, bowling, and playing BINGO with her sister Wendy.

Linda was greeted in heaven by many loved ones including her parents, William & Betty Lage. Her first husband, Glenn Engen. Son Jeff Engen. Sister Ladonna Johnson, and her second husband Richard Tholkes.

She will forever be missed by her children Chad (Maria) Engen and Ryan (Marnie) Engen, sisters Terrie (David) Hennis, Wendy (Terry) Stiegle, grandchildren Melissa Johnson, Justin Engen, Leine Engen, and Matthew Engen. As well as many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 31st from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the upstairs area of VFW Post 1676 in Detroit Lakes.

Per family request, a private graveside ceremony will be held at Lakeview Cemetery the morning of May 31st.
