Larry Lies

Larry J. Lies, 76, Detroit Lakes, MN, formerly of Fargo, died Thursday, October 3 at Sanford Health in Fargo.  No service is planned.

Larry James Lies was born July 31, 1943 in New Rockford, ND to Ernest and Mary (Settlemeyer) Lies.  He was raised and educated in New Rockford and attended NDSU and the Dakota Business College.  Larry was a police officer with the Fargo Police Department 1967 – 2005, having attained the rank of Investigator.  Larry was united in marriage to Geraldine Knutson, August 28, 1964 in Bremen, ND.

Larry enjoyed time with his children and grandchildren, tractors, fishing, NDSU sports and Salt Lake Grizzlies Hockey.  He especially treasured his trip to Alaska in 2008 with his close friends.

Survivors include his wife, Geraldine of Detroit Lakes, children: Tammy Lies of Fargo, Stacy (Catherine) Lies of Fargo, Levi Lies of Tucson, AZ, two Grandchildren, Max & Trey, a brother, Wilfred (Linda) Lies of Fargo and Vicky (G. A.) Guttmann of Victoria, TX.  He was preceded in death by three brothers, Neil, Terry and Nolan.  David-Donehower Funeral Home is serving the family.
