Jerome “Jerry” Disse, 81, and lifetime resident of Detroit Lakes, passed peacefully in his home on the evening of Saturday, May 17th, 2025. Jerry started his education at Garfield Dist. 107 School and went on to graduate from Detroit Lakes High School with the "Class of 63".
Jerry and Nancy Johnson were married, May 27, 1967. Their marriage was blessed with a son, Christopher. Nancy died on June 10,1998. Jerry married Kathy Donley on June 26, 2004, and was blessed with a stepdaughter, Allison.
After high school, Jerry worked at Peterson-Biddick Elevator, Boyer Seed and Hillcrest Mink Ranch. Jerry was employed with Snappy Air Distribution from August 1967 until retirement in May 2010.
Jerry was the one who was always smiling. He enjoyed breakfast at the 59er and talking to everyone. He was quick to strike up a conversation with an old friend or a new one! He was willing to tackle any project. If he didn’t know how, he worked until he figured it out. That included everything from building his own home to fixing anything.
He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, and family. Road trips were always fun, going to the Menagha Bakery or an Amish store. There was always a different route each way!
Jerry is survived by his wife Kathy, son Chris, bonus daughter, Allison Fransen, grandchildren, Jaiden Disse and Nova Fransen, siblings, Margaret “Peggy” (Ed) Stellmach, Thomas (Sue) Disse, Michael (Pearl) Disse, Martha (Rory) Hanson, and John (Suzanne) Disse and several nieces and nephews.
Jerry was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy and infant son, Matthew, parents, Leonard and Beatrice (Turner) Disse and sister, Mary Ballard.
