James David Fry

James (Jim) David Fry, 76 of Detroit Lakes, MN passed away on June 24 at Essentia Hospital in Fargo, ND.

James was born 3 weeks early in Detroit Lakes, MN to Charlie and Mayme Fry. From the age of 4 and on he would split his time at The School for the Blind in Faribault, MN and back home with the family in Ponsford, MN. There he would learn how to navigate the world with no sight, learning the art of piano tuning, in which he would later become his lifes work. Jim graduated from high school May of 1967. He then went on to get a Bachelors degree in music at MSUM Moorhead. He taught music at the Frazee High School. After marrying the love of his life Kathy in 1980 they spent the next 45 years together in Detroit Lakes. Jim went on to tune pianos, teach guitar, voice, computer and piano lessons. Jim had been a proud member of The Frazee Lions Club since January 1, 1977. He was still active in speaking and playing music in his church Grace Communion International (Fargo,ND). He played many instruments (almost every one) through the years and was an amazing singer. He enjoyed reading books (braille and talking books), listening to the birds and going to see his beautiful bride twice a week at Oak Crossing. Jim loved spending time with his daughter Erika, her husband Mike and their 3 kids. Although life wasn't always easy Jim never complained and only made the best of the situations. He touched countless lives through his music and his love for the Lord.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents Charlie and Mayme Fry, brother Charlie (Deb) Fry

Jim is survived by his wife Kathleen, Daughter Erika (Mike) and 3 grandkids. Gavyn, Aubrey and Tristen Meeks. Brothers Mark (Jan) Fry, Dan (Fran) Fry, Steve (Linda) Fry, Joe (Rhonda) Fry, Tom (Mindy) Fry and Sisters Cathy (Clark) Johnson and Rozanne Fry.

We extend our deepest gratitude and love for everyone that has been there for dad throughout the years. No matter how big or small your contribution has not gone unnoticed.

Visitation will be held at David Donehower Funeral home 609 US Hwy 10 E, Detroit Lakes, MN from 9:30am to 10:30am with a 10:30am service. Lunch to follow. Burial at Linnell Cemetery in Ponsford MN
