Harvey Edward Fisher, 92, of Detroit Lakes, MN, passed away peacefully with his family by his side, into his eternal home on July 8, 2025, at Ecumen Long Term Care in Detroit Lakes.
Harvey was born on June 10th, 1933, to Edward and Elsie Fisher in Gaylord, MN. He served in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Hornet Carrier on the Far East Tour from 1955-1957. Upon returning home, he married Marie Schultz on October 20, 1957. After working at King and Grabow for several years learning the trade of heating and sheet metal, he became self-employed in 1973 as a sheet metal fabricator. Favorite pastimes included fishing, hunting and woodworking. Harvey and Marie were avid dancers to old-time music and were even known to be a “winning couple” in competitions.
Harvey is survived by his three children: Jeff (Ann) of Detroit Lakes, Teresa (Scott) Parks of Wausau, WI and Daniel of Rapid City, SD. He was blessed with four grandsons: Nathaniel (Mary) Fisher of Lenoir City, TN, Timothy Parks and significant other, Desiree Ryan of Marathon City, WI, Tyler (Anna) Parks of Freedom, WI and Hunter Bachmeier of Lakeland, FL. He was equally blessed with four great-grandchildren: Brooke and Jaidyn Fisher, and Avery and Owen Parks.
Harvey is preceded in death by his wife, Marie, his parents, Edward and Elsie Fisher, youngest child, Darrell, brothers, Maynard and Ellsworth, sisters, Lourinda Schultz and Evangeline Feldt, daughter-in-law, Darla Fisher and infant granddaughter, Stephie Parks.
Harvey’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the caregiving staff at Essentia Health, St. Mary’s, Ecumen ICU and Long-Term Care and HIA Hospice for treating their father with such good care.
A Memorial Service will be held in celebration of Harvey’s life at David-Donehower Funeral Home on Friday, July 25, at 11am, with a visitation starting at 9:30am. Inurnment at Oak Grove Cemetery will immediately follow, with a reception to be held at David-Donehower after the Graveside Service.
