Gordon D. Berg

Gordon Duane Berg, age 71, passed away on Tuesday, June 3rd 2025 at Essentia Health in Fargo, ND with his family at his side.

Gordy was born on September 3rd, 1953 in Detroit Lakes, MN. He was the son of Lois and Einar Berg. He attended school in Detroit Lakes, MN and ended his high school career early to enter the workforce. He began his working career when he took over Deep Rock gas station in Detroit Lakes, MN which he ran for several years. Later he moved to Colorado Springs and ran his own irrigation business. In 2002 he moved back and resided in his hometown of Detroit Lakes, MN.

Gordy loved the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He found a passion for collecting coins, but mostly enjoyed spending time with friends playing backgammon, telling stories and cracking jokes. He had the upmost love for his pet dogs, Bo-Riley, Murphy and Kady-Do. More recently, he loved showing off his 1969 Dodge Charger.

Gordy is preceded in death by his parents, Lois and Einar and his Bother Allan Berg.

Gordy is survived by his daughter, Heather Barnack of Fargo, ND; his granddaughters Gracie Jackson and Greta Frisch of Fargo, ND; his Brother John Berg of Detroit Lakes, MN; His nephew, Tyler Berg, niece Karissa Berg and great niece Ellison Berg of Detroit Lakes, MN; as well as many other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers include Ron Halbakken, Gary Hoffman, Max Fortier, David Kranstover, Gerald Hanson, and Tyler Berg.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 11th from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at David-Donehower funeral home in Detroit Lakes, MN.

An additional visitation will be held on Thursday, June 12th from 10:00-11:00 AM prior to the funeral service beginning at 11:00 AM also located at David-Donehower funeral home.

Burial will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery in Detroit Lakes, MN following his services.

In liue of flowers, donations may be made in Gordon's name to the Humane Society of The Lakes.  Your generosity is much appreciated.
