Genevieve McArthur

Genevieve McArthur was born July 18, 1932 in Waubun, Minnesota the daughter of Wilbur and Mary (Thompson) DeGroat. She passed away December 31, 2022 at Diamond Willow Assisted Living in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota after a seventeen year battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.

She grew up and attended school in Waubun graduating from Waubun High School in 1950. On July 13, 1951 she was united in marriage to Eugene (Didds) McArthur and brought three children into this world.

Genevieve worked at Berry’s Café, McArthur Foods, and Green’s Grocery. She was a hard working, dedicated, and caring employee.  Always striving to serve the customer and provide the highest level of customer service.  Additionally, cleanliness was a way of life for her and it was displayed in her workplace and home on a daily basis.  She enjoyed crocheting, music, singing in church, and attending her children and grandchildren sporting events.

She is survived by her children: Eugene (Natalie) McArthur, Wanda (James Lorsung) Drinkwine; Siblings:  Joyce (Don) Priebe, Sandra Williams;  Grandchildren: Doug (Rachel) McArthur, Jami McArthur, Jeremey Drinkwine, Kari Zutz, Nick (Jessica) McArthur, Lincoln (Lyndsi) McArthur, Genevieve (Scott) Anagnost;  Great grandchildren: Dougie, Peyton, Owen, Mason, Carter, Abby, Dawson, Brayden, Colton, Emma, Olivia, Aiden, Hudson, Kennedy, Dacey, Brynn, Kendall, Knox; Great-great grandchild: Xyla;

Genevieve was preceded in death by her parents: Wilbur and Mary DeGroat; husband: Eugene McArthur; daughter: Margaret McArthur; Grandson:  Jesse Drinkwine;  several siblings.
