Gary Tyberg

Gary Howard Tyberg was born on September 20, 1960 in Long Prairie, MN to Howard and Lorraine (Jacobson) Tyberg. They moved to Detroit Lakes in 1963. He was united in marriage to Jade Jang on December 29, 1994 in Las Vegas, NV. He passed away on November 15, 2016 at Gwinnett Medical Center in Duluth, Georgia after a 6+ year courageous battle with cancer. Gary graduated from Detroit Lakes High School in 1979 and from Minnesota State University Moorhead in 1983. After college he moved to Amarillo, Texas and started his career with Intercontinental Hotels Group where he was employed for 32 years. Over the years he moved to Nashville, TN, Memphis, TN, Kennesaw GA, Las Vegas, NV, Duluth, GA, and Johns Creek, GA. Gary and Jade hosted many children from Korea. He enjoyed traveling around the United States and Internationally. His hobbies were skiing, golfing and woodworking. Gary is survived by his wife, Jade, a step-son, Sean Eason, daughters Jamie and Jasmine, son Joshua, Mother, Lorraine Tyberg, In-Laws, Mr. & Mrs. Jang, sister, Beth (Deryk) Funkhouser, Sister-in-law Hyun-Joo, Brother-in-laws Sung-Koo (Gook-Sun) and Sung-Jin (Mi-Ja), nieces, Amber (Hans) Decker and Sara Funkhouser and many Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. Gary was preceded in death by his father, Howard, Aunt Lynn Jacobson, Uncles Richard Jacobson and Leonard Niemi, and grandparents. Visitation will start at 1:00 PM followed by the Funeral service at 2:00 PM, Saturday November 26th at First Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes, with the Rev. David Peterson officiating. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
