Garrison Evans

August 11, 1937 — December 29, 2016

Garrison was born on August 11, 1937, to James and Nancy (Ortley) Evans in Big Falls, MN. He attended school at Pine Point, Minerva, and Bagley. After school he joined the U.S. Marine Corps, where he served honorably. Following the service, he moved to Minneapolis where he worked at the American Bridge Company. Upon returning to Rice Lake, he worked for Gordon's Construction. He was married to Karen Thompson and together they raised three sons. After retirement he moved into the White Earth Congregate Housing. Garrison loved to whittle, especially his Diamond Willow Canes. He also enjoyed beadwork and visits to the casino. Garrison had a good sense of humor and enjoyed visiting with his family and friends. He is survived by his sister, Geraldine Bugg of Waubun, MN; a former spouse, Karen Evans of Rice Lake; step-sons, Gary Thompson of Rice Lake, Tony Thompson of Mahnomen, and Elmer Thompson; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Nancy; sisters, Freanette Ortley-Neeland, Inez Evans-Loun, Betty Evans, and Catherine Evans-Bensen.
