Evarista Vogt

Evarista 'Eva' Vogt, age 74, of Detroit Lakes, MN passed away on December 28th, 2025. Eva was born on June 14th, 1951, in Chiriqui, Panama to Pedro & Evarista (De Gracia) Saavedra. She met her husband, Stephen Vogt, while working as an au pair for the family of a U.S. Air-Force Captain. The two married on October 4th, 1971. Eva & Stephen had one son, James, and one daughter, Lorena. The family lived in several states over the years, including Colorado and Kentucky, moving as necessary for Stephens' military career. After the family settled in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, Eva completed a degree in Culinary Arts at M State Detroit Lakes, and later, a degree in Cosmetology at M State Wadena, Minnesota. Eva spent most of her adult life working as a hairdresser at various salons where she was beloved by a regular rotation of clients. 

Aside from her profession, Eva loved spending time with her grandchildren, tending on her flowers, sewing, and enjoying sweets. She was known for her bold personality and generous heart. 

Eva was proceeded in death by her parents, Pedro & Evarista Saavedra, her mother and father-in-law, Gordon & Dorothy Gilbertson, sister-in-law, Kendall Vogt, 4 brothers, and one sister, Florencia Armstrong. 

Eva is survived by her husband, Stephen, her children, James (Amy) Vogt, Lorena (Nicholas) Larson, five grandchildren, Olivia, Mason, Henry, Ale, Finley, and two great-grandchildren, August & Evie (who bears her namesake).

A private Celebration of Life will be held with close family and friends on 2.21.26.
