Ernest Bonga

Ernest was born January 29, 1933 in Ponsford , MN to John George and Francis (Wadena) Bonga. He was raised and educated in Ponsford, later moving to Minneapolis , MN . For 18 years he worked for Sears, selling and installing fencing for customers. In 1980, he was united in marriage to Andrea Wagar at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Minneapolis . They made their home in Minneapolis where Ernie continued working at Sears before later taking a job with Mystic Lake Casino. Ernie loved his family and friends and was known for his gentle nature and willingness to always lend a helping hand to those that needed it.

Ernie enjoyed fishing, boxing, playing bingo and spending quality time with his son Patrick. He loved his church and was a faithful parishioner all his life.

Ernie will be remembered and missed by his wife; Andrea Bonga of Frazee, MN, son; Patrick Bonga of Mahnomen, MN, one grandson; Kane Bonga of Mahnomen, MN along with one sister; Verna Basswood of Mahnomen, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers: Patrick, Paul, Melvin, Irvine, Robert, Harvey and John Jr. and two sisters: Edna and Carol.
