Elizabeth "Betty" Murphy

Betty (Brunskill) Murphy, 76, Detroit Lakes, MN, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2022, at Frazee Care Center. Betty was born on September 23, 1945, to William & Josephine (Effhauser) Brunskill and was one of four girls raised in Grand Forks, North Dakota. She graduated from St. James High School in 1964 and then attended Josef’s School of Hair Design. After graduating from cosmetology school, she moved to Minneapolis, MN.  She had two children, Brett and Brenda. In 2013 she moved to Detroit Lakes, MN to enjoy life with her family and grandchildren who she deeply loved.

Betty is survived by her children Brett (Sonia) Krueger and Brenda (Bill) Brooks, sisters Jessie Brenna and Wilma Smith and grandchildren Micah, Eli, Makaley, Molly, Lilly, and Lila. Nephews and nieces Marnie, Heather, Jenny, Meggan, Brian, Jason, and Aaron, all had a special place in her heart.

She is preceded in death by her parents William and Josephine Brunskill, husband Jerry Murphy, sister Mary Kay Braus, brother-in-law John Smith, brother-in-law Gene Murphy, and niece Lizanne Brenna.

A celebration of life will be at a later date.
