Elizabeth Nybo

Elizabeth M. Nybo, 89, Detroit Lakes, MN, died Friday, March 14 at St. Marys Regional Health Center in Detroit Lakes. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 19 at Grace Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes, Rev. Eric Lemonholm, officiating. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Detroit Lakes.



Friends may call 4:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday, March 18 at the David-Donehower Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes. The visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the funeral service on Wednesday.



Elizabeth May Vogt was born August 14, 1918 in Detroit Lakes to John and Julia (Lind) Vogt. She was raised and educated in Detroit Lakes and was a 1936 graduate of Detroit Lakes High School. She was united in marriage with Arne Nybo, August 26, 1940 in Detroit Lakes. They lived in St. Paul, MN and Spokane, WA prior to returning to Detroit Lakes in 1946. After raising their children, Elizabeth worked for Lindruds Dime Store and the Holland Motel. Arne died in 1991.



Elizabeth was known for her baking and her gardening. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, the Minnesota Twins, playing Yatzee and crocheting, having once won a Blue Ribbon for her bed spread at the Minnesota State Fair. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Washington School PTA and a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts.



Elizabeth is survived by two daughters, Annette Pawlak of Audubon, MN, Peggy and her husband, Dennis Olson of Lake Park, MN; sons, Arne Jr. and his wife Lilly Ann of Eveleth, MN, Gerald and his wife Lillian of Tyler, TX and Steve of Detroit Lakes; nine grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; one brother, Charles and his wife Nancy Vogt of Detroit Lakes. In addition to her husband, Elizabeth was preceded in death by a grandson, Gerald; three sisters, Birdie, Erma, Gloria; and three brothers, John, Doug and Richard.
