Don Crozier

October 3, 1927 — January 6, 2018

Don R. Crozier, age 90, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2018, at Essentia Health Hospital in Fargo, ND.  A memorial service will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at David Donehower Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes, with a time of gathering an hour prior. A visitation will be from 4-7 pm on Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at the funeral home, with a prayer service at 6:30 pm.  His ashes will be buried in the spring at Lakeside Cemetery in Frazee, MN.

Don was born on the family farm in Hobart Township, MN, on October 3, 1927, to Henry and Ella (DeLaTour) Crozier.  He attended grade school at Rose Lake and graduated from Frazee High School in 1945.  After graduation, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps.  The war ended the following year and he was discharged in the summer of 1946.  That summer he began seeing a school friend, Marie Bjorge.  Together they moved to Alaska and were married in 1948. They returned to Frazee in 1950, where Don worked in road construction.  In 1953, the couple moved to Kenosha, WI, and had a son, Danny. Shortly after, they resettled to Frazee in 1954 and Don began over the road trucking.  A year later, their daughter Colleen was born. In 1964, they again moved to Alaska and Don resumed working in construction, working on the Trans-Alaskan Pipeline.

Don loved gardening.  He also loved woodworking and was a master craftsman.  He enjoyed the outdoors and liked to spend his time ice fishing, deer hunting, and duck hunting,

Don was a member of the Vergas Lions clubs.

He is survived by his wife, Marie; a daughter Colleen (Tim) Nustad of Hawley; three grandchildren, Joshua (Ginna) Nustad of Moorhead, Joseph (Alisha) Nustad of Moorhead, and Molly (Evan) Anderson of White Bear Lake; three great-grandchildren, Layla, Jaden, and Zoey; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Ella; a son, Danny; and four siblings, Violet Holbrook, John Crozier, Carrie Gleason, and Ethel McCarty.
