Diane Carole Trieglaff, 79, Frazee, MN, died Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at HIA Hospice Heather’s House in Fargo, ND.
Diane was born January 15, 1947 in Moorhead, MN to Delos and Ione (Peterson) Atkinson. She is a 1965 graduate of Moorhead High School and earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education from Moorhead State University in 1969. She taught Physical Education and coached gymnastics in Wheaton and Frazee, MN. After her years in teaching, Diane followed her green thumb and worked at Bergen’s Greenhouse in Detroit Lakes. She and her close friend, Russell Richter later owned and operated Field Stone Gardens, a floral and nursery business in Frazee. Before retiring, she worked as a custodian for the Frazee Public Schools. She retired in 2010.
In 1965, Diane met Donald (Don) Trieglaff. They were united in marriage February 16, 1974 in Moorhead. Together, they raised three children, Danielle, Jamon and Taif. Diane was baptized, confirmed, and married at the First Congregational Church, Moorhead.
Don and Diane enjoyed annual rock picking trips; finding agates for jewelry Diane made and sold at the Shady Hollow Flea Market, rocks for her backyard perennial garden, and to share with fellow rock enthusiasts. Together they went on road trip adventures, and rock picked every state west of the Mississippi River. Diane was an avid crocheter. She made and gifted numerous afghans. She adopted many cats over the years. She was a devoted guardian to numerous rescue cats who were treated like royalty when they came home with her. Diane loved athletics. She proudly cheered her children and grandchildren in all of their sports. She was their biggest fan and encourager. However, gymnastics was her passion. She was a standout gymnast in her youth, and a passionate coach, proud parent of a gymnast, and cherished every minute she was involved in the sport. Diane also had a gift for noticing people who needed help and she quietly stepped in to provide support and care. Her kindness will be missed.
Diane is survived by her husband, Don; daughters, Danielle (Scott) Link and Jamon (Matthew) Friendshuh, grandchildren: Forrest and Dylan Link, Bethany (Devin) Hagen, Michael Friendshuh, Ahzriel and Zariah Wouters and Jolynn Trieglaff; a sister: Judy (Charles) Leitheiser.
