David “Dave” O. Sunram, 76, of Audubon, MN, passed away on November 18, 2021 at Essentia Health, Detroit Lakes, MN. Dave was born on August 23, 1945 to Orville and Doris Sunram. He attended grade school in Cormorant and graduated from Audubon High School. In 1968, he was united in marriage to Sandra Torgerson. After returning from Vietnam, he was honorably discharged from the Air Force service in Delaware and went into law enforcement. Dave and Sandra were blessed with the birth of their sons, Daniel and Michael, during this time. In 1975, the family returned to Audubon, MN. He went on to join the North Dakota Air National Guard’s 119th Wing, “Happy Hooligans” and served both as an Airman and civil servant and retired after 20 years. Dave was also a member of the Audubon Fire Department, VFW, and American Legion. Retirement brought a couple of different jobs his way with Team Industries in Audubon and later mowing fairways at the Hawley Golf Course.
Dave enjoyed a good joke and was known for sending numerous humorous offerings to friends and family via email. If you needed something planned or researched, Dave was your man, leaving no stone unturned in carrying out his mission. He enjoyed mowing his lawn and working on different things in his back garage. He also looked forward to meeting his friends for breakfast, weekend breakfasts with his sons, and trips to Cornfield Cafe with Sandra. His granddaughter Emily was the light of his life. He loved fishing, duck and goose hunting in Canada, and spending time at Little Pine Deer Camp. He fiercely loved his family and will be sorely missed.
Dave is survived by his wife Sandra, sons Daniel (Joy) Sunram and Michael Sunram, granddaughter Emily (Mitchell) Mosher, brother Dean (Cathy) Sunram, niece Stacy (Jon) Carda, nephews Todd Torgerson, Ryan (Jennifer) Sunram, Aaron (Reece) Sunram, along with all their children.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Orville and Doris Sunram, in-laws, Archie and Ruth Torgerson, and Beverly Torgerson, and brother-in-law, Harlen Torgerson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Veterans Honor Flight of ND/MN.
