David Jones

David Jones, 70 years of age, of Callaway, MN, has passed to reunite with his loved ones in heaven on May 22, 2025. David was born on June 23, 1954, in Detroit Lakes, MN, to Marcellyn C. Jones and Ruth (Ellingson) Jones. He was baptized and confirmed at Bakke Lutheran Church, Detroit Lakes, MN. He attended Little Floyd Lake School, a one room schoolhouse the first years of his education. David graduated from Detroit Lakes Senior High School in 1974. David was a career long-haul trucker.

David was a generous man, friend to many, acquaintance to all. He would talk to anyone about anything, often at great lengths. He always had a moment to lift someone’s spirits or brighten their day. David was proud to be involved with his church, often excitedly sharing stories with his children about the goings on, sweet or exciting stories about fellow church members, and how happy he was to be included in Sunday School instruction. David was an avid reader, often reading more than one book or publication at a time. His interests were wide and varied. David was a writer, and anyone who has ever received a “Davey letter” can attest, he was also quite the thinker. He will be sorely missed.

David is survived by his three children, two stepchildren, grandchildren, step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, his dear friends, Bruce and Paula Jones and his sister, Julie Jones, Callaway, MN. A memorial service in David’s honor will be held Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at Lake Region Mennonite Church with visitation from 4-5 p.m., and a memorial service at 5 p.m. You are invited to stay for supper.
