Darold "Bud" Buchta

Darold Dennis Buchta was born on February 25, 1940, in Madison, WI to Stanley and Elaine (Borman) Buchta.

Darold graduated from Edison High School with the class of 1958. After graduating, he enlisted in the United State Navy on July 7, 1958. After his honorable discharge on June 29, 1962, he helped his dad with his dad’s body shop for a few years. He then moved to Colorado where he met his future wife, Judy. The couple celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary in July of 2021. In January of 1994, the couple sold their home of twenty years to pursue a  lifelong dream of owning a family resort, purchasing the Rustic Resort on beautiful Long Lake in March of 1994.

Darold loved to watch Wheel of Fortune and watched it religiously for 39 years, he even took the boys to meet  Vanna White at the Gateway Car Dealership in Denver, CO. He also loved hunting, fishing, and spending time with family.

Deeply loved, Darold’s passing is mourned by his wife of 51 years Judy; children Chandelle (Donnie), Tony (Stacy), and Steve (Yvonne); grandchildren Shannon, Mariah, Sabrina, and Spencer; great-grandchildren Daniel, Ayden, and Eliah; siblings JoAllen, Dale, and Derby; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Preceding Darold in death are his parents; brothers Danny and Dean.
