Cleone Norine Koenig, 92, Detroit Lakes, died Wednesday, June 9 at Essentia Health in Fargo. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, June 14 at 11AM in Zion Lutheran Church, Detroit Lakes.Pastor Dan Abrahams Officiating, Kim Schnitzer, Soloist and Betty Kohler, Organist. Visitation will be held Monday, June 13 at David Donehower Funeral Home from 5pm-7pm with a 7pm Prayer Service. Interment will be at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, Little Falls, MN. Cleone was born February 29, 1924 in Frazee MN. She was the second youngest child in the family to William and Bertha (Youngren) Cole. Cleone graduated from Frazee High School in 1943 and began working for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company. On April 7, 1946 she was united in marriage to Hershel L. Koenig at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Audubon, MN. They established their home in Detroit Lakes where they were blessed with three children. Cleone was a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed sewing, gardening and volunteering with Zion Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes. She was active in the American Legion Auxiliary for 43 years and also served a term as their president. Cleone enjoyed volunteering at nursing homes and hospitals along with her many church functions, activities and mission projects. She loved doing arts and crafts, playing shuffleboard and golfing with Hershel. Cleone and Hershel spent time living in Park Rapids and Blue Earth before retiring and moving back to Detroit Lakes. They wintered in Mesa, AZ, enjoying the sunshine and many activities in the mobile home park they lived at. Cleone is survived by three children: Judy (Bob) Mosford of St. Cloud, MN, Paul (Lori) Koenig of Basin, WY, and Tammara (Trish) King of Snohomish, WA. In addition she is also survived by five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Hershel and siblings. Cleone will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
