Chuck McWethy

Charles “Chuck” McWethy, 57, of Fargo, ND, passed away on August 26th, 2025.

Born on June 24, 1968, in Fargo to Otto and Mary McWethy, Chuck will be remembered for his unwavering kindness and generous spirit. Whether volunteering at a homeless shelter or helping to build a school on a mission trip to Haiti with his brother Mike. Chuck lived a life dedicated to helping others.

Chuck’s happiest childhood memories were summers at the lake—fishing, water skiing, and spending long days with friends and family. A 1987 graduate of Fargo North High School, he went on to earn a degree in International Business from Arizona State University.

Following college, Chuck pursued a successful career in management in Boston, MA, and Chicago, IL. After the death of his father, he returned home to join his brother Mike in running the family business, Mac’s Hardware, which they grew into a regional chain of 14 stores. After selling the business in 2018, Chuck found a new calling in teaching. He devoted the last several years of his life to working with students with special needs at Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch and in the Fargo and Moorhead public school systems—impacting countless young lives.

Chuck is survived by his loving mother, Mary; his brother Mike (Stacy) McWethy; and his beloved children Aaron, Josh, Dan, and Sarah. He was preceded in death by his father, Otto.

Chuck’s kindness, humor, and compassion touched everyone who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and community.
