Cecelia Stalberger

Cecelia “Cece” Marie Stalberger, age 85, of Clarissa, MN, passed away on Monday, June 25, 2018, at the CentraCare Health Hospital in Long Prairie, MN.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am on Friday, June 29, 2018, at Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Ogema, MN, with a time of gathering an hour prior.  Interment of her ashes will follow at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery.

Cecelia was born on July 19, 1932, in St. Paul, MN.  She grew up on the family farm in Callaway, MN, where she was raised by her loving parents, Victor and Marie (DuChene) Solmon.  Cecelia graduated as Valedictorian of the Waubun High School Class of 1951.  She was united in marriage to Elroy Stalberger on November 11, 1952; together they had 14 children.  In 1952, they settled down on their dairy farm, where they would remain for 49 years.  In 1999, they sold the farm and moved to Clarissa, MN, where they lived until 2004, when they moved to Detroit Lakes.  In 2017, they returned to Clarissa where they lived at the Central Todd County Care Center’s assisted living facility.

Cecelia was no stranger to hard work, raising 13 children while helping run the family dairy farm.  Even when the work was hard she never complained.  She enjoyed working the land, especially in her flower garden and vegetable garden, where she grew all nature of plants.  Cecelia was feisty and fun-loving as well as sweet and caring and the proof is in the love she poured into holidays, birthdays, and special occasions.  It was also seen in her attention to her children and grandchildren, whom she loved spending time with playing scrabble and putting together puzzles.  Cecelia also liked playing cards and dancing.  Above all her other hobbies was her love for reading. Cecelia was a proud member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Elroy; 13 children: Margaret (Tom) Claussen of Eagle Bend, MN; Ramona (Clifford) LaDue of Clarissa, MN; Larry Stalberger of Bloomington, MN; Ronald (Jill) Stalberger of Clarissa, MN; Barbara (Gaetan) Freynet of Eagle Bend, MN; David (Marlene) Stalberger of Waubun, MN; William (Carol) Stalberger of Waubun, MN; Kathy (Jeffery) Perrine of Rochert, MN; Brian (Christine) Stalberger of Detroit Lakes, MN; Richard (Brandy) Stalberger of Chaska, MN; Lee (Jeanne) Stalberger of Detroit Lakes, MN; Randy Stalberger (Jodi Cincush) of Detroit Lakes, MN; and Matthew (Celeste) Stalberger of Bemidji, MN; her siblings, Marilyn (John) Vangness of Wanamingo, MN; Robert (Joanne) Solmon of Grapevine, TX; George (Ann) Solman of Ogema, MN; and Joseph Solmon of Detroit Lakes, MN; 35 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Marie; and a daughter, Patricia Mary Stalberger.
