Caroline Goodman

Caroline Sophia Goodman, age 67, of White Earth, MN, passed away on Sunday, February 26, 2017, at her home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at St. Benedict's Catholic Church in White Earth, with a time of gathering beginning at 10:00 am. A visitation will begin at 4:00 pm on Tuesday, February 28, 2017, at the White Earth Community Center. Caroline was born on March 11, 1949, to Benjamin and Marceline (Belland) Goodman in White Earth, MN. Caroline lived with her grandmother while she attended school in Waubun. She graduated from East Grand Forks High School in 1967. On June 9, 1967, she was married to Dave Bach in Rockville, MD, and together they raised their two children. Caroline worked as a cashier for the Piggly Wiggly grocery chain. She also worked as nanny, a hotel manager, and a waitress. In 1975, she worked for the Metro Council in Moorhead. She went on to graduate from Rita's Beauty School in 1977. In 1978, she left waitressing to work as an over-the-road truck driver. During this time she lived in Colorado and Arizona and then retired to the White Earth area in the early 1990's. Caroline was a long term resident of the White Earth Congregate Housing, where she lived for over 20 years. Of her accomplishments she was very proud to celebrate 20 plus years of sobriety and her family was proud of her.

Caroline enjoyed Westerns, reading, and gardening. She loved to cook and could make anything taste good. Her family was always present in her thoughts and actions. She cherished her children and grandchildren, and her nieces and nephews had a special place in her life. She will be remembered as a soft heart to those in need and for her generosity, compassion, and her forgiving nature. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her children, James Goodman, Nicholas (Bonnie) Bach of West Fargo, ND, and Jan (Darrell) Charwood of Maple Grove, MN; sisters, Genieve King of Demming, NM, Diane (Ed) Levvy of White Earth, Lorraine Goodman of Moorhead, MN, and Karen Goodman of Osage, MN; her grandchildren, Chelsea Anderson, Heather Bach of West Fargo, ND, and Wyatt and Wade Charwood of Maple Grove; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Mercaline; siblings, James, Joseph, Ricky, John, Bobby, and Corrine; a nephew, Mike Dakota; and a great-niece, Indika Goodman.
