Joyce Marie Groth was born May 25, 1951, in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, the daughter of Arden and Leora (King) Wiemerslage. She passed away Friday February 15, 2019 at the Moorhead Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Moorhead, Minnesota after a long and courageous battle with Multiple Myloma cancer.
She grew up in Ogema and was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ogema. Joyce attended school in Ogema and graduated from Waubun High School.
On June 5, 1969, she was united in marriage to Dennis Groth in Sisseton, South Dakota. They had three children and made their home on the farm near Ogema where Joyce cared for her children and home.
Joyce was a farm wife that preferred to be in the field and help with all the farming chores. She was active with Ladies Aid, Church and Homemakers.
After Dennis passed away in 1993, and she began a career as a CNA and worked at a nursing home in Ulen, and a group home near Callaway.
Joyce enjoyed quilting, embroidering, crossword puzzles and bingo. She especially enjoyed crafts with her granddaughter. Joyce was a breast cancer survivor and moved to the Lamplighter Manor at Ecumen in Detroit Lakes before moving to Moorhead for full nursing care.
Joyce is survived by her children: Deanne (Dave) Williams of Dilworth; Darcee (Gene) Whitehead of Red Lake Falls; Mark Groth of Ogema; granddaughter: Chantel (Cory) Uriell of Pisek, North Dakota; great grandchildren: Jude, Lucy, and Bradlee; siblings: Darlene (Doug) Meyers, Barbara Christensen, Bruce Wiemerslage, Jimmy Wiemerslage, Shirley (Steve) Koshatka, and Lorri and (Dean) Peterson.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Arden and Leora; husband: Dennis Groth; and sister: Sharon Dee and an infant nephew: Arnold Christensen.
