Swen M. Johanson, 87, of Detroit Lakes, MN died Monday, October 8 at the Veteran?s Administration Medical Center in Fargo, ND. The Funeral Service will be 2:00 PM Thursday, October 11 at the David-Donehower Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
Swen Martin Johanson was born October 23, 1919 in Essunga, Sweden to Johan H. and Anna Marie Johanson. He grew up in Waubun, MN and served in the United States Army during WWII. After his discharge from the service he drove a cab in Detroit Lakes for two years; worked for Megarry Brothers Construction for 11 years and Ready Mix in Detroit Lakes for 27 years. Swen retired in 1981 and continued to reside in Detroit Lakes until the time of his death.
Swen is survived by one brother, John in Seattle, WA; son-in-law, Douglas (Carol) Bergerson; four nephews, John Johanson, Peter Johanson, Jeffrey Johanson, Mickey Johanson; step-children, Bud Boswell, Don Boswell, Betty Johnson; step-grandchildren, Jim Bergerson, Darlene Bergerson, Mark Boswell, Frank Boswell, Tanya Johnson; step-great grandchildren, Patience Johnson, Tony Bakken, Shane Bakken. He was preceded in death by his father, John; mother, Anna Espe; brother, Erick Johanson.
