Norma Nygaard

Norma Nygaard, 95, of Detroit Lakes, MN died Thursday, July 31 at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes. The Funeral Service will be 3:00 PM Friday, August 8 at Emmanuel Nursing Home with Chaplain Vicki Marthaler officiating.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the nursing home on Friday.

Norma Nygaard was born November 26, 1912 in Marshall County, MN to Ole and Louise (Hanson) Nygaard. When she was 17 she moved with her family to the Waubun, MN area where she finished her schooling. Norma was never married but her extended family was like her own. She was loving, faithful and kind to her family, many friends and those who knew her. She loved to spend time with her extended family. Norma enjoyed painting, embroidery, wildlife, reading and working on the farm. She also loved music and dancing.

Norma is survived by nephews, Robert A. (Katie) Kind of Rush City, MN, Louis O. Nygaard of Detroit Lakes; nieces, Carol D. (Kevin) Bice of Waubun, MN, Nora S. Listul of Naytahwaush, MN, Shelly K. Larson of Callaway, MN; ten great-nieces and nephews; ten great-great grand nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her Parents; three sisters, Lilah Broulliard, Bernice Holcomb and Helen Drummond; one brother, Sheldon E. Nygaard.
