Mildred Lanoue

Mildred Lanoue, 100, resident of Detroit Lakes, formerly of Waubun, MN, died Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at Emmanuel Nursing Home, Detroit Lakes. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 10:00 AM in St. Anne's Catholic Church, Waubun. Visitation will be held one hour prior to Mass at the church. Interment will be at St. Anne's Catholic Cemetery, Waubun. Mildred Arens was born February 26, 1911 in Remsen, Iowa, to Nicklos and Margaret Arens. As a young girl she moved with her family to a farm near Marshall, MN. In 1934, Mildred was united in marriage to Armond Lanoue in Marshall. Mildred and Armond spent most their married life in St. Paul, MN before moving to Waubun in 1983. Armond passed away in September of 1992. Mildred continued to reside in Waubun. In her spare time Mildred loved reading a good novel. She also enjoyed sewing, tending to her garden, canning, baking, playing cards especially Finagle, bird watching and time spent at her lake place on Strawberry Lake. During the fall season, you would often find Mildred and Armond taking in the beautiful fall colors as they drove throughout the countryside. Mildred was very proud of her independence and lived by herself until she was 97 years old. She loved to entertain her family, always opening her doors for a good home cooked meal and visit. Mildred will be remembered and missed by her son: Ronald (Rosemary) Lanoue Sr of Ogema, MN, 10 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Armond (1992), daughter: Mary Jo, daughter-in-law: Judy Lanoue, two grandchildren: Roberta and Timothy Lanoue, one brother: Clarence Arens and five sisters: Lillian Arens, Evelyn Larson, Catherine Blaeser, Margaret Fox and Irene Olchefski. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Hospice of the Red River Valley.
