Mercedes Erickson

Mercedes H. Erickson, 88, of Detroit Lakes, MN died Friday, September 4, 2009 at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes. The Funeral Service will be 2:00 PM Monday, September 14 at the Audubon Chapel, Audubon, MN with Pastor Duane Lahlum officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Moorhead, MN. Visitation for Mercedes will be one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church.

Mercedes Hope Erickson was born June 20, 1921 in Henning, MN to Acie Charles and Selma Ovidia (Braaten) Helmbrecht. She grew up and attended school in Henning. She was married to Gerald Munson, they made their home in the state of Washington before returning to the Moorhead, MN area. Mercedes was united in marriage with Wesley Erickson in Dilworth, MN July 2, 1961. They moved to Brady, MT in 1963 and resided there until 1993. Mercedes and Wesley retired to Audubon, MN in 1993. Wesley died February 21, 2001.

Mercedes is survived by her son, LeRoy (Connie) Munson of Blaine, MN; two grandchildren: Jeff (Sherri) Munson of Crystal, MN, Greg (Benjawan) Munson of Las Vegas, NV; two great-grandchildren: Ashton and Garrison Munson; two step-great grandchildren: Cody Westlund and Jordan Swan; two sisters: Darlene Johnson and Doreen Hagen; three brothers: Acie “Swede” Helmbrecht, Jr., Gary Helmbrecht and William Helmbrecht; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her Parents Selma and Acie Helmbrecht; her husband, Wesley Erickson; children: Phyllis Munson, Darwin Munson, Bradley Munson, Jeanette Munson, Lois Munson and Mary Beth Munson; step-daughter, Sharon Vikesland; sisters: Faye Kruse, Shirley Goodsell, and Joan Helmbrecht; brothers: Marlyn, Kenneth, David, Larry, and Robert Helmbrecht.
