Martha Riggle

Martha Riggle, 87, rural Ogema, MN, died Saturday, April 23 at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes, MN. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday at Christian Fellowship Church in Detroit Lakes, Pastors Tim Rice and Jim Erb, officiating. Interment will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Richwood, MN. Friends may call 4:30 – 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM Tuesday at David-Donehower Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes. The visitation will continue at the church 1 hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Martha Dodd Riggle was born March 30, 1924 in Vergas, MN to Silas and Delphia (Hartman) Dodd. She moved with her family to Frazee, MN where she was raised and educated. The family moved to the Strawberry Lake area of rural Ogema. Martha worked for the Comstock Hotel in Moorhead, MN. She was united in marriage to Joseph Riggle October 12, 1944 in Breckenridge, MN. They lived in Frazee, MN, Fargo, ND, Salem, OR and Portland, OR. prior to returning to the Strawberry Lake area in 1966. Martha worked for Swift and Company in Detroit Lakes. Martha's husband, Joe died in 1999. Martha enjoyed time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren; flower gardening, singing and most of all, her Lord, Jesus Christ. Survivors include her children: David (Violet) of Callaway, MN, Joseph Jr. of Fargo, ND; Linda (Jim) of Gerving of Callaway, MN, and Connie (Paul) Mosher of Detroit Lakes, MN; 19 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Joseph she was preceded in death by a son, Jerry, an infant daughter, Diane, a grandson, Christopher Riggle, four sisters and seven brothers.
